Wargroove is another game that was announced during the PC showcase at E3 2017, and probably a game you forgot about.

I can’t wait to see how the finished product looks and plays. I also noticed the graphics of Frozen Synapse 2 look better. If you haven’t already checked out the Frozen Synapse franchise and you’re also into turn-based strategy games, then you’re missing out on an interesting multiplayer experience. There were times that I didn’t always want to deal with the multiplayer phases of playing a match of Frozen Synapse, and eventually I wanted to move on. As someone who played Frozen Synapse, I am very glad to see single player be the major addition to the franchise. Don’t overlook Griftlands this summer.įrozen Synapse 2 is a game that I had no idea was being made until recently, but I am glad that Mode 7 made that decision. We don’t know a whole lot about Griftlands, but what we do know is that the graphic style looks very good, but more importantly, the gameplay has a lot of customization to it involving your characters trying to “make a fortune.” This is developed by Klei Entertainment, the same developers of Don’t Starve and Mark of the Ninja, so we know they have a solid track record of good user experiences, particularly in customization. I have this included here because you may have forgotten about it, and I almost did. Griftlands is a game that I was introduced to during the PC showcase at E3 2017. Griftlands, Frozen Synapse 2, Wargroove, Guacamelee! 2, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night This edition of Indie Game Discovery Round features some games that you may have forgotten about. very recently released, or hidden gems that caught our eye that we would like you to know about. Given its early state, we don't expect to see Spellbound (working title) release this year, but 2019 seems possible. The Indie Game Discovery Roundup is a list of indie games just announced, upcoming. CEO Finn Brice and the Chuckefish team gave us a few extra details last year. Will it be revealed this year?Ĭhucklefish's magic school RPG: It just took one screenshot to raise interest in Chucklefish's next in-house game, which was clearly inspired by its learning from publishing Stardew Valley. Unnamed Obsidian RPG: We know that Obsidian is working on a new RPG and that it has partnered with Take-Two's Private Division on the project, though little else is known. For Wasteland 3, inXile promises "story-driven synchronous or asynchronous multiplayer" and a "newly-revamped dialog tree system" all set "in the savage lands of frozen Colorado."
#GRIFTLANDS 2018 SERIES#
Wasteland 3: 2019 should bring us Wasteland 3 (opens in new tab), another party-based RPG from the series that preceded Fallout. I wouldn't expect to hear much more about this MMO for a year or two, but we'll be eyeing its progress closely. EVE's brilliance at hosting player-driven dramas, with all their wars and betrayals, easily makes anything new from CCP exciting, despite its recent troubles. Yet somehow, "CCP is currently building a team in London to lead development on a new and highly ambitious MMORPG," reads a job description from last year. First it cancelled its ambitious vampire MMO, World of Darkness, and sold the White Wolf license, then it laid off a swath of staff, including its whole VR department. Unnamed CCP MMO: It's been a tough few years for EVE Online-developer CCP. Final Fantasy 15 is due out early this year.Ĭyberpunk 2077: I'm not confident that CD Projekt's next epic will release this year-2019 seems more likely, if not 2020-but at this stage I expect we'll start finally hearing and seeing more about the digital adaptation of the tabletop Cyberpunk game.
#GRIFTLANDS 2018 MOD#
Here's hoping for a great port, and for someone to mod in Randy Savage. The PC version of Square Enix's sword and machinery road trip will include some amount of mod support, an unexpected treat from a series that has a tumultuous history on PC, from the trapezoid-boxed Final Fantasy VII port I never finished because it crashed halfway through to the shambles that was Final Fantasy 14: Online before A Realm Reborn's correction.

It's also beautiful on PS4, so I'm excited to see what PC players can do with custom camera tools and absurd resolutions, and I expect FF15 to feature heavily in next year's screenshot compilation (opens in new tab). Like the rest of the numbered Final Fantasy games, it diverges from its predecessors in setting and style but swerves into common themes and archetypes: a throne, a Crystal, chaos, chocobo.
#GRIFTLANDS 2018 PS4#
From what I've seen from the backseat of a PS4 playthrough, FF15 is about mild moping, long drives, unrestrained use of particle effects-in an action combat system, this time-and photojournalism.
